Summary

How much pain are you willing to endure for someone you love?
Bold, charismatic, and charming Blu Henderson wears a fake smile every day, pushing through life because she has to – not because she wants to。
Quiet, introverted, and mysterious Jace Boland catches her eye the second she sees him。 After that, it’s game over – not just for Blu, but for Jace as well。
Drawn together by inexplicable attraction, a whirlwind connection forms that persists and torments, mends and breaks, and forces both Blu and Jace to confront the traumas of their past while trying to make their relationship work。
“A Hue of Blu” explores how two broken hearts can find comfort in tragic losses, how two broken souls can find peace in pain, and how loving yourself may be the only way to love another…
No matter the consequence。

TW: Alcoholism, toxic relationships, mental health (specifically depression and BPD), body image, self-harm, mentions of OW/OM, and loss of a parent。

5⭐️s。 Jeez I think I cried the entire book。 This hurt。 A lot。 But I’m happy with how it ended (no I did not read the alternate ending bc I need to protect my peace)。 I really loved the characters, even if they frustrated the shit out of me。 This entire story was ALOT to take in, but for whatever godforsaken reason, I consumed it in one sitting。 Reminded me a bit of normal people for some reason。 Definitely saw a lot of myself in the FMC, and it made it hurt all the more。 For my fellow anxious at 5⭐️s。 Jeez I think I cried the entire book。 This hurt。 A lot。 But I’m happy with how it ended (no I did not read the alternate ending bc I need to protect my peace)。 I really loved the characters, even if they frustrated the shit out of me。 This entire story was ALOT to take in, but for whatever godforsaken reason, I consumed it in one sitting。 Reminded me a bit of normal people for some reason。 Definitely saw a lot of myself in the FMC, and it made it hurt all the more。 For my fellow anxious attachment girlies, this is gonna be a heavy read so precede with caution。 (Read all TWs) 。。。more

A beautiful heartbreaking story。

I loved the book I honestly related to Blu a lot and it was eye opening to see her growth。

Wow, this was so heavy but so good。 It dealt with so many topics in a really interesting way。 Although this technically isn’t supposed to be a love story, I still enjoyed some aspect of it that was explored。

Is this the best written book? No but the reason it was 5 stars for me is that I see so much of myself in Blu。 I can’t remember the last time I highlighted so much in a book and screamed in my mind “THIS IS ME”。 While I appreciate the alternative ending provided for everyone that wanted it, I loved the original ending more because it felt more realistic。 I’m so glad a TikTok came across on my fyp with that stand out quote, Iykyk。

Beautiful Such a beautiful story about hating and loving yourself。 The back and forth made it so real。 This is a story that hits you hard 10/10

AMAZING READ!!!A truly gut wrenching novel that shows the ins and outs of two characters that have both built walls to protect what others have already broken。 Blu is a chaotic work wind of a woman that’s faced trauma and this book painted a beautiful picture of what healing from that trauma looks like。 Hue of Blue is already one of my favorite books so far! Can’t wait to see what else Marie-France Leger has to offer the world Seriously go read it right now!!

While I love a good HEA like the next person in this case I feel like the priority of one’s mental health takes precedence & it’s a reminder that you truly can’t help anyone else until you help yourself。。 Some parts got quite emotional and while I honestly feel like Blu & Jace are soulmates they both needed to fix themselves before they can have a healthy relationship。 。。。more

He wasn’t ready to give love but she was definitely not ready to receive love。 They were like fire and gasoline。 I loved the turmoil and the Man, I wanted to love this book so much but the ending really didn’t sit right with me。 It was a roller coaster of emotions and I LOVED that。 It wasn’t some cheesy rom-com, but it was realistic and heavy。 My main issue with the ending is that I feel like Blu got to have a reason for why she was toxic and unstable… but Jace was just taking advantage of her?? self love and discovery of self worthI fell into booktok posting of this book and finally took it from my TBR and read it in one day。 I couldn’t put it down。 I hoped for Jace to fix his demons。 I hoped for Blu to find her true Hue。 Literally cried, make sure you have your tissues and prepare for the aftermath of an ugly cry。 This book will stay with me forever。

Loved itNot sure where to start but I hated Jace's character throughout - he was selfish, self absorbed and a narcissist。 I couldn't understand why Blue was swooning over him but that's just me。 I agree with Marie that the ending was definitely a justice to the entire plot after reading the alternative ending added as a bonus for readersBlue was just a breath of fresh air, observant, smart and had the ability to assess others well。 I must admit that I couldn't understand why she's be so obsessed Loved itNot sure where to start but I hated Jace's character throughout - he was selfish, self absorbed and a narcissist。 I couldn't understand why Blue was swooning over him but that's just me。 I agree with Marie that the ending was definitely a justice to the entire plot after reading the alternative ending added as a bonus for readersBlue was just a breath of fresh air, observant, smart and had the ability to assess others well。 I must admit that I couldn't understand why she's be so obsessed with one guy who had no direction but I totally got it towards the end (not inserting spoilers for anyone)。 Usually I can anticipate while reading but I actually couldn't and was engulfed for 2 days trying to figure it out as I read。 Great read and amazing writing 。。。more

A part of me died

The book was good。 There was a lot of back and forth and at times I found it hard to follow。 That made it where I couldn’t get lost in the characters world like I usually can。 While it was a decent book, I wasn’t ever able to emotionally connect with the characters like I wanted to。 I do think it was cool she included two different endings though。

While this book was cliché at times, I still loved it。 It shown a light on emotions that I have experienced first hand and gave me a perspective that I didn't have before。 I loved Blu's relationship with Fawn and Carter。 I wished that I had someone to be as brutally honest with me as they are with her, especially in times of turbulent relationships。 I think it can sometimes be hard to read books that so closely resemble your own reality (and I definitely experienced that with this book), but the While this book was cliché at times, I still loved it。 It shown a light on emotions that I have experienced first hand and gave me a perspective that I didn't have before。 I loved Blu's relationship with Fawn and Carter。 I wished that I had someone to be as brutally honest with me as they are with her, especially in times of turbulent relationships。 I think it can sometimes be hard to read books that so closely resemble your own reality (and I definitely experienced that with this book), but there were some important truths that I hadn't really considered before reading this。 Truthfully, I didn't read the alternate ending。 I don't feel like it would have been truthful to the character of Blu。 She was able to put in the work to heal herself, but I can't see a future in which Jace would've taken a similar path of healing nor would he be deserving of another chance at that point。 I think Blu's story ended where it needed to。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I thought it would be a romance like the ones where two people who find each other and fight but then make up and live happily ever after, but this was so much more than that。 i really think it captures the types of relationships like this in real life and how people act certain ways too。 and i’ve never love two characters not getting together again more in my life。 it was truly amazing
